Do Conservatives And Karl Rove Speak With Forked Tongue?

X-posted Blogosphere Zoo
Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers." Karl Rove
in rove's statement he speaks of liberals and conservatives in the general. now its explained he did not mean all liberals, only the liberal extremist, if so then he must also be speaking of the conservative extremist.

Happy Memorial Day 2005! Or Is It?

crossposted at: Blogosphere Zoo

Can you say that? - H a p p y Memorial Day? - What's happy about it? Well Walmart and Target will be having Memorial Day savings. Food markets are selling hamburg and hotdogs with a smile. Parks and beaches will be filled with families laughing and playing with the aroma of charcoal and kerosene in the air. Gas stations are happy about Memorial Day. School is out in most places so children are happy. If you live in the USA its the beginning of summer.

I guess there is a lot there to be happy about? Or is there? Is this what was meant when Memorial Day was officiated on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873. By 1890 it was recognized by all of the northern states. The South refused to acknowledge the day, honoring their dead on separate days instead, until after World War I, when the holiday changed from honoring just those who died fighting in the Civil War to honoring all Americans who died fighting in any war.

Its A Strange World ~ Food For Thought

Crossposted: Blogosphere Zoo

Do you find some things in our world just a little strange? [ besides me :) ]

Why does the USA Senate want to change the rules of play? and why does Prez Bush want to change 'our' constitution? I am told that it because its over 200 years old and it needs to keep up with the times.

Personally i think he is correct, we should make 'our' constitution more liberal and while we are with it ..why not update the 'Ten Comandments'?

What are some things you find strange?

Bloggers! The New Minutemen. A Transfer Of Power.

Last night I watched ABC's Nightline, mainly because the networks are already showing reruns, particularly Dave Letterman. They were featuring Bloggers. My catch of the show was they were centered on the ethics and responsibilities of bloggers. You have probably heard the buzz around the Blogosphere, that Bloggers need to be ethical and responsible with their concerns and opinions - Lest we step on the toes of a politician or even a journalist. What's next coffeehouse house conversations? Worst yet ethics, responsibility and accountability of how the American people peacefully assemble? And our freedom of speech?

First off, blogging, in its grassroots tradition, is ones personal thoughts and opinions. A journal or diary made public. On a more contemporary beat, blogging (politically) is a public forum, a soap box, for debate or discussion. It is the voice of 'individuals around the world'. It is a 'Witness' to a true form of democracy, as principles of social equality and respect for the individual within a community. In the United States of America it is our 'right' to excerise in either the forum of 'free speech or the 'right to assemble'.

Thomas Paine ~ What Was He Thinking?

Thomas Paine - one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, he rallied the troops during the Revolution War, he influenced the minds and ideals of Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, as well as his other contemporaries such as George Washington. His works include,

  • Common Sense (1776)
  • The Crisis (1776-77)
  • The Rights of Man (1791-92)
  • Age of Reason (1794, 1796)
  • Paine advocated a liberal world view, which was radical at the time (at the time?). He had no use for royalty, and viewed government as a necessary evil. He communicated the ideas of the Revolution to common farmers as easily as to intellectuals, creating prose that stirred the hearts of the fledgling United States.

    Fox News Buys Al-Jazeera

This is a few days old from MSNBC/NewsWeek but if you havent heard it yet ..here it is

Under intense pressure from the Bush administration to sell its controversial Al-Jazeera network, the nation of Qatar stunned the television industry today by agreeing to sell the broadcast company to Rupert Murdoch's Fox News Channel.

Television insiders were taken aback that the network whose motto is "We Report. You Decide," would acquire a broadcast entity whose slogan is "Death to the Infidels."

But according to Murdoch, chairman and CEO of Fox parent News Corp., the merger was a natural because, in his words, "We took a look at their format and realized that it was almost identical to ours."

The Great Slick George Save Social Security BullShit

What makes me laugh about ‘The Great Slick George Save Social Security BullShit’ is why do we need a plan (or permission) to save money in an IRA or similar pension program ..we already can do this ..oh wait perhaps “Slick George’ is going to tell us which of his friends financial companies (soft money) is eligible for this generous 4%..

Be aware, any money you get will go against what you would be eligible from SS .. if your wealthy enough you will benefit, if your not well $540.00 per month (or whatever the rate is, i havent retired quite yet lol - cant afford too).. will still be $540.00. This reaks of a get rich scheme. The promise of riches from Wall Street. Are ready to buy in and take your chance?

and what does ‘Slick George’ purpose to do with the rest of the FICA tax you will still be paying in?

Put Our Kids First ~ A Letter From Senator John Kerry

Our Put Kids First campaign is drawing national attention to the needs of the 11 million American children living without health insurance. This week, we take it to another level.

Tonight, President Bush will use his State of the Union speech to stampede the country into a false sense of crisis on Social Security, while ignoring the real and immediate crisis of 11 million American children waking up this morning without health insurance.

But, we won't accept the President's refusal to act as the final word on meeting the needs of our children. Not a chance. Last week, our Senate introduction of the Kids First Act of 2005 added even more energy to our drive for citizen co-sponsors for this vital legislation. Nearly 500,000 people have now signed on to our efforts.

When I laid out our plans in a national speech to Families USA last week, it stood in sharp contrast to the President's "no real answer" photo op on health care the same day in Ohio. And, this past Sunday, I continued carrying our message about covering every child to the national media on Meet the Press.

Iraq Elections ~ Wag The Tail Of The Dog

In regards to the upcoming iraq elections ..why endanger more lives ...the powers at hand already know who will be elected as  'slick georges's' puppets ..and regardless of voter turn out (which will be a small minority) they will still claim success..

First of all, the Bush Admin is scrabbling for voters in allowing Iraqis that now live here in the USA, ok some of them are in exile, but most will only return to Iraq only to visit, in another words they are Americans now and they will continue to be Americans, not Iraqi citizens. So how is it they are allow to vote in Iraqs future?

Second, many of the candidates are kept anonymous not to mention there was barely any campaigning. So are Iraqis that polictical indepth? That they can vote for the correct Suni or Shiite? And who nominated these candidates? Not the citizens of Iraq. That would leave the powers at hand - 'Slick George's' puppets.

NOT ONE DAMN DIME ~ Inauguration Day Silent Protest

    Pass this on!

    "NOT ONE DAMN DIME"
    Inauguration Day, Silent Protest
    Thursday, January 20th, 2005
    http://www.notonedamndime.com/boycott/

Since our religious leaders will not speak out against the war
in Iraq, since our political leaders don't have the moral courage
to oppose it, Inauguration Day, Thursday, January 20th, 2005 is
"Not One Damn Dime Day" in America.

On "Not One Damn Dime Day," those who oppose what is happening in
our name in Iraq can speak up with a 24-hour national boycott of
    all forms of consumer spending.

During "Not One Damn Dime Day" please don't spend money. Not one
damn dime for gasoline. Not one damn dime for necessities or for
impulse purchases. Not one damn dime for anything for 24 hours.

    Merry Christmas & Blessed Kwanzaa

    Merry Christmas & Blessed Kwanzaa!!

Spread a little cheerduring this magical seasoneven the most wickedcan believe in a reason;if you spread the cheer.

Back when i was a child of 8 or 9. I was sound asleep on that Christmas Eve Night. We lived in a small bungalow next to railroad tracks and I slept in the attic. A noise on the roof awoke me in the cold of night. My eyes popped opened, listened for another noise. I  faintly heard the jingle of bells. Up out of bed i rushed to the small attic window. There in the clear sky i saw tiny reindeer, a sleigh and yes Jolly Saint Nick.

Rubbing my eyes i took a second look and this image was still there. Then i heard a small voice say, "Merry Christmas and Goodwill to All."

A bit surprised and a bit scared i ran down the stairs, sure enough the cookies and milk were gone. Presents fill the room next to the Christmas Tree. My father's voice came from his bedroom, "why are up Rg?" "Daddy i just saw Santa Claus, I did I did, i exclaimed!" With a small laughter in his voice he said, " OK son, well go back to bed, its only 5:00 am."
