In my world history class we are doing a project about cloning and stem cell research. I would have to say that stem cell reasearch is ridiculous. I think that scientist and doctors should focus on the fact that we have many diseases uncurable and they should be spending time to fine the cures for those specific diseases. They dont need to be dong riduclous things like cloning and stem cell resaerch. I think stem cell research is useful but cruel. What are your thoughts?

stem cell research
First off if anyone reading this has any info on legislation about the sale of human embryos for stem cell research it would be greatly appreciated
Second
"I think that scientist and doctors should focus on the fact that we have many diseases uncurable and they should be spending time to fine the cures for those specific diseases."
what do you think stem cell research is??? its to try to find cures for currently uncurable diseases (diabetes, heart and liver disease, spinal cord injuries, etc) and even are currently helping about 70 diseases including lupus, leukemia, and testicular cancer. Im doing a project too and im probably younger than you yet i still have some backing to my opinions and quite frankly i think ur post was extremely naive.
Third...my thoughts... hm personally i dont think it's cruel but thats because i dont consider embryos people or living ( with definitons for life such as "physical, metal, and spiritual experiences that constiture existence"-of which embryos have none- ) and therefor dont concider stemcell research 'murder' though as far as my understanding goes, since Bush's veto more scientists are looking to the cells found in amniotic fluid, membrane, bone marrow, etc and embryos bound to be discarded at in vitro centers and i read a couple articles saying that researchers at ACT could extract a single cell from the 'whatever it is after its devided into eight cells' (ive got the legit info written down somewhere im just lazy and dont feel like finding it) without killing or harming it and allow it to further develop as it normally would. Ive also read that the White House's report claims that its a bunch of bull. Idk, especially cause i have absolutely no legit political knowledge but from what ive read in a few articles (not from my parents) the Bush Adm. seems a bit bitter towards stemcell alternatives.
i supppose ill post my paper once im done with it for critique
[respondez, critique, point out my naive-ness] would be much appreciated, thanks
