Post Katrina New Orleans to become Salsa and Latin Music Capital of the World

http://weirdwally.blogspot.comWhile gazing into his crystal ball the other night, Weird Wally saw New Orleans as the “New Salsa and Latin Music Capital of the World.”Although parts of New Orleans are buzzing with activity and commerce, in the poor and black sections of town, there is only silence and despair.In the French Quarter and other upscale sections of the city, construction and remodeling moves along at a brisk pace and most of the workers are undocumented workers from Latin America who plan on remaining in the area long after their work is done. Meanwhile, the blues, blacks and jazz people who brought us New Orleans culture are scattered in hundreds of cities throughout the country and left with nothing to return to.And as the new poor from Latin America settle into New Orleans they will bring their culture with them.The thing is, Salsa and Latin’s flash and energy will play a lot better in one of Donald Trump’s Casinos then will the pain of blues or the headiness of jazz.Meanwhile, our man in New Orleans, sends WW a message of hope from a post Katrina, New Orleans.Bye for now…
